Discussion:
SPIDER Malfunction

My system significantly slowed down after I inserted a thumb drive with jpgs
on it. Autoplay function (part of Adobe software I think) was triggered. I
usually get it stopped in the past, but not this time. SPIDER was open at
the time. After I got everything closed normally, I restarted Spider, and
the "Difficulty" pop-up opened, but the game screen itself does not open.
The SPIDER label shows up on the task bar, but does not display. Tried
maximize, restore, etc. and nothing works. I replaced the spider.exe file
with the file by the same name from my full system back-up. Nothing changed.
I suspect a .dll file or something similar got corrupted or deleted. I have
rebooted several times since, and I am running McAfee so don't have any
nasties on board. Anyone have any ideas as to how I might be able to fix
this? Thanks

Hi David W. Colo,

Since that problem just started happening recently, try a System Restore.

How to use Windows XP System Restore:

I wish I had known of that option right after the problem happened. But I
have installed add'l hardware (printer) with operating software since then,
so don't want to have to re-do that. So I will pass on your suggestion. It
is a good suggestion, I just failed to aske the question with the right
timing. Thank you.
